Getting tattooed in Chiang Mai: good to know
- November to February is cool and pleasant; February to April is burning season, with smoke and haze. On smoky days stay indoors when you can and keep the tattoo clean.
- Songkran in Chiang Mai is huge, especially around the old city moat. Keep a fresh tattoo out of the water fights.
- At an elephant sanctuary, watching and feeding is fine; mud baths and bathing with the elephants have to wait until the tattoo heals.

Aftercare
Rinse gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap, pat dry and apply a thin layer of cream. No sea, no pools and no direct sun until it heals, usually 2–4 weeks.
